This course introduces you to the essential foundations of college level writing. Our Composition I course provides an overview of the various types of college writing, such as personal, expository, persuasive, and argumentative and describes the characteristics of each. The basic fundamentals are covered from the ground up; from structuring and developing a paper, crafting topics, creating outlines and revising, editing and proofreading skills. You will be introduced to the general processes of communication through writing and reading.

Our Literature course explores short stories, poetry, and dramatic plays by immersing students in literary traditions through carefully selected pieces of literature. First we will step into the world of the short story by gaining an understanding of plot, point of view, tone, settings, and character. Next we move onto essential tools that poets use and we explore various forms of poetry. Finally, we identify Drama’s Greek roots and famous works of Shakespeare. This course analyzes classic and contemporary pieces to provide a well-rounded literary experience.

In our Composition II course, we examine the processes of topic concentration, research, and writing in order to produce a thorough and well versed research paper. We dive into the research and writing process by exploring how to locate and evaluate good sources and how to write a research proposal. Although research can be challenging and sometimes daunting, this course will help students explore new concepts and ideas that will broaden their view of literature, writing, and research.
